The Falcon Shield is in service with Texas school districts and the agencies that respond to them. Below is dated coverage of those deployments, with sources named, plus funding information for districts and law enforcement agencies evaluating a purchase.
February 2026 · Atascosa County, Texas
A rolling Falcon Shield for five area districts
The Atascosa County School Safety Fund, working in partnership with local school districts and law enforcement, donated a rolling Falcon Shield to five area districts — Jourdanton ISD, Pleasanton ISD, Poteet ISD, Charlotte ISD, and Lytle ISD.
Each unit was finished in the receiving district's own mascot and colors: the Lytle Pirates, Poteet Aggies, Jourdanton Indians, Pleasanton Eagles, and Charlotte Trojans.
The donation was funded entirely by local donor businesses, including area car dealerships and small businesses, rather than district budgets or state appropriations.
A live demonstration was held at Jourdanton ISD, led by Atascosa County Sheriff's Office Deputy Chief Eric Kaiser, and attended by district superintendents and the Pleasanton Police Department.
Jourdanton ISD Superintendent Dr. Tracy Canter credited the donation with better equipping local law enforcement to protect students and staff. Atascosa County law enforcement officials described the shields as providing cover for first responders, helping officers approach a threat, and creating a safe space for EMS to treat victims.

Texas Bullet-Resistant Shield Grant Program
Texas operates a state-funded Bullet-Resistant Shield Grant Program, administered by the Texas Public Safety Office, that law enforcement agencies can apply to for help funding NIJ Level III, III+, and IV rated ballistic shields.
Agencies partnering with a district on active-shooter response are often eligible applicants. Availability, eligibility, and award amounts are set by the program, and we make no guarantee of funding — agencies should confirm current terms and deadlines directly with the Public Safety Office.
Local donor funding is another proven route: the Atascosa County deployment above was paid for entirely by area businesses through a county school safety fund.
